St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church
Massillon, Ohio
Purpose
We are seeking an Organist and Choir Director who will continue and enhance our fine musical tradition and worship life. We are a traditional parish with a long history of outstanding choirs; we are hoping to rebuild our music program in the years ahead.  Our Shantz rebuilt console is said to be among the finer organs in the area.
 
Accountability
·       Works in collaboration with the Rector to provide appropriate music throughout the year.
·       Must notify the Rector a minimum of four weeks for planned absences.
·       Regular reviews and evaluations with the Rector.
 
Responsibilities
·       Coordinate with the Rector in planning, preparing, and playing of music appropriate to each service. (10am, each Sunday)
·       Prepare music for additional annual services—Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and two Christmas Eve services.
·       Select and perform an appropriate weekly prelude and postlude.
·       Coordinate and schedule rehearsals of the Choir.
·       Play for funerals and weddings as available. (Compensated by honorarium.)
·       Engage competent substitute organists/accompanists for worship services, choir rehearsals or special events when unavailable.
  
Skills Needed
·       Excellent organist, pianist and accompanist.
·       Confident sight-reader.
·       Collaborates with church staff.
·       Clear communicator.
·       Working knowledge of the Anglican worship tradition, and ability to support congregational singing.
 
Compensation
Approximately $15,000, based upon skill, education, and experience level. This position is defined as 3/8 time, salaried, year-round employee.
