A Message from the Bishop Regarding Staff Transitions

December 8, 2021

Dear friends and colleagues,

As we make our way through Advent toward new spiritual beginnings, I write to inform you of two departures of treasured Diocesan staff members who are leaving for new beginnings in their own lives.

Betty Kondrich is retiring at the end of this month, after serving for a decade in the Office for Ministry, the Office of Congregations (specifically with Christian Formation), and the Development Office. She has provided wisdom, humor, historical perspective, parochial experience, and wonderful companionship to countless across the Diocese. While we will greatly miss her steady, thoughtful, and encouraging presence, we know that this new season with her husband, Dennis, and their family is well earned and will be filled with joy.

Yesterday, Kyle Mitchell, our wonderful farm manager at Bellwether Farm, informed me that he and his wife, Lynea, have accepted positions at the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii’s Camp Mokulē’ia. This is, of course, a great loss for Bellwether and all who have come to value Kyle's inviting spirit and gifts for growing and teaching. At the same time, it is an exciting new adventure for the Mitchells. After four years helping form the vocation and life of Bellwether Farm, they have decided to take a break from farming. Beginning in the new year, Kyle will serve as Camp Mokulē’ia's Property Director and Lynea as the Assistant Director. I am deeply grateful for all that they have contributed to Bellwether and the Diocese of Ohio, and know that you will join me both in missing them and wishing them well on this new adventure.

With every blessing of this season of expectation,

The Rt. Rev. Mark Hollingsworth, Jr.
Bishop of Ohio
