When Areej Abbas, 18, told a group of children she speaks both Arabic and English, one girl immediately asked her to say something in her first language.
Those little moments were much the point of “Children’s Storytelling Day: Peace-Making Across Cultures,” held Sunday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Maumee. Presenters such as Ms. Abbas were there to help build a bridge, to show, not teach, how differences and similarities make us who we are.
