    The 79th General Convention of The Episcopal Church will convene for nine days in Austin, Texas beginning on July 5 and ending on July 13. It will include worship, legislative hearings and the crafting of legislation by 26 different legislative committees, and of course debate and action in both houses.

  • Father's Day and Immigration

    Throughout this Father's Day, as I enjoyed my parish visitation and time with our younger two children afterward, I kept thinking about the zero-tolerance practice that is guiding our immigration practice and putting politics before God's beloved. I kept imagining with horror how it must feel for the children who are taken from their parents, for the parents who must relinquish them, and for the immigration and public safety officials who must carry this out.

  • Greener pastures: A new generation of farmers is taking the reins in Cleveland

    Though they found the work in Cleveland rewarding, Kyle was intrigued when a friend sent him a listing for a farm manager job at Wakeman-based Bellwether Farm, the new camp, retreat, and education center for the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio. He interviewed for the job, but learned they weren’t quite ready to move forward with hiring. One year later, he got the call.

  • Update on Bellwether Farm from Bishop Hollingsworth

    Because completion of all safety systems is required before occupancy permits can be issued, we have had to arrange alternative accommodations for St. Paul's, Cleveland Heights reading camp at a nearby scouting facility, though they will still have programming at Bellwether. The two weeks of Bellwether summer camp scheduled for mid-July, however, have had to be cancelled.
